Abstract
Abstract Intelligent tutoring systems are computer programs that use artificial intelligence techniques to interact with students and to provide experiences tailored to students' immediate needs. Originally, the term included only systems that modeled the student's developing knowledge, but today the term often includes systems that adapt to the pattern of a student's activity and to estimates of what the student knows.
