Abstract
An analysis was made of the incidence of various intrathoracic abnormalities noted on plain chest radiographs and tomograms in a consecutive series of 300 patients with untreated Hodgkin's disease and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Those with Hodgkin's disease have a higher incidence of intrathoracic disease at presentation than those with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (67% vs. 43%). Bulky superior mediastinal lymphadenopathy is the hallmark of Hodgkin's disease. Lung involvement was more common in Hodgkin's disease (11.6% vs. 3.7%) and was always accompanied by mediastinal and/or hilar lymphadenopathy.
