Application of Ender Nail to Treatment of Multiple Segmental Fracture of the Tibia with Interlocking Intramedullary Nail

Abstract
Objective:To present one of methods of closed reduction in treatment of multiple segmental fracture of the tibia with interlocking intramedullary nail.Methods: From September 2003 to September 2004,18 cases of multiple segmental fracture of tibia were treated.All cases underwent closed reduction with Ender nail and were fixed with interlocking intramedullary nail.Each case was followed up for the average of 4 months(ranging from 3 to 5 months).Results: All fractures healed in average of 3.5 months(ranging from 2.5to 4.5mnoths).No infection and malunion or nonunion occurred in all cases.No locking screw and nail was loosen or broken.The function of knee and ankle joint were normal.Conclusion:The method of closed reduction with Ender nail in treatment of multiple segmental fracture of tibia with interlocking intramedullary nail is suitable.
