Abstract
Objective To assess the effect of titanium alloy restorations and gold alloy restorations. Methods We searched MEDLINE(1966to January 2012),The Cochrane Library(Issue 1,2012),Pub Med(1978to January 2012),Ovid(1978to January 2012),CBM(1981to January 2012),and CNKI(1979to January 2012),and traces all the relevant literature of the reference, and the Rev Man 5.1software was used for data analysis. Results 920cases of titanium alloy restorations and 758cases of gold alloy restorations from fifteen literatures met to internalizing standard.Result of Meta analysis showed that Restoration color RR =0.35,95%CI[0.22,0.56];Neck margin dyeing RR =0.19,95%CI[0.09,0.38];marginal adaptation:RR =0.36,95%CI[0.20,0.63]are not including 1,which has statistical significance.gingivitis:RR =0.38,95%CI[0.13,1.12]and Porcelain or base damage:RR =0.58,95%CI[0.16,2.07]are including 1,which has no statistical significance. Conclusion Gold alloy restorations have lower risk in:Restoration color,Neck margin dyeing and marginal adaptation compared to titanium alloy, but still need the massive high grade RCT to confirm.
