Abstract
Objective:To explore the methods of using interlocking intramedullary nail to treat the patients with femoral shaft fractures. Methods: 59 patients with femoral shaft fracture admitted from January 2004 to December 2009,and were treated by the interlocking intramedullary nail. Results: The author evaluated the knee function after surgery,33 cases were excellent,20 cases good,3 cases medium and 3 cases poor, and no complications occurred such as fat embolism, intraoperative iatrogenic fracture, implanted intramedullary nail fixation, and no adverse events and side effects like nail loosening, nail broken and infections. Conclusion: Interlocking intramedullary nail has obvious advantages for treating long bone fractures like femoral shaft fractures, but attention to expansion of the nucleus of the micro fracture and pressure should be paid.
