Abstract
Objective To study the clinical efficacy of segmental fractures of tibia and fibula by different surgical methods. Methods 68 cases of segmental fractures of tibia and fibula were treated with closed reduction and three dimensional external fixation(32 cases),interlocking intramedullary nail(17 cases),and compression plate(19 cases). The efficacy of 3 methods were compared. Results 68 patients were followed up for 6~24(14±3) months. In compression plate group,2 cases got infection and nonunion complications.Assessed by Johner-Wruh reference standard, the excellent and good rate in external fixation group was 93.75%;interlocking nail group 88.24%;and plate group 89.48%.Conclusions Treatment of segmental fractures of tibia with external fixation reduces operative time, hospital stay, surgical incisions, blood loss, transfusion volume, and healing time, which is better than plating and the interlocking nailing.
