Abstract
The management of tibial plateau fractures has long been a subject of controversy. The spectrum of treatment ranges from simple casting and bracing, skeletal traction, and early motion to open reduction and internal fixation. A brief review of recent literatures reveals that surgeons are exploring many different avenues of treatment for these fractures. The cannulated cancellous (CCS) group had the best functional outcome followed by the (Buttress plate) BP group. With regard to the fracture patterns, the Schatzker’s type I had the best outcome with 100% excellent outcome following ORIF, followed by type II with 91% excellent outcome while type VI had the worst outcome.
