The Emerging Applications of Intelligent Computing on Medical Images in National Health Insurance Database

Abstract
Medical images from each hospital in Taiwan have been included in the National Health Insurance Database since January, 2018 and give researchers an opportunity to access a new type of medical data and explore a new medical AI application. This study proposes some research directions to enhance the potential value of National Health Insurance Database in the new age of medical images. Some application models between traditional datasets and the new medical image datasets are summarized and their purposes, benefits and challenges are also discussed. In short, the integration or combination of various medical datasets will encourage more new medical AI applications, achieve precision medicine, and make current medical AI model more powerful.
