Abstract
A specific legal and ethical approach to cyber-physical systems, a fortiori to industrial cyber-physical systems (ICPS), is not yet widespread. However, we note that, on the one hand, the characteristics of these systems allow for parallels with more commonly discussed subjects, such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and robots, and, on the other hand, the new research field of cyber-physical and human systems, encompassing ICPS for their social impact, is beginning to address these issues. In order to analyze the problems encountered in more detail, first, the question of ethics is examined in greater detail, before exploring the question of responsibility more specifically. Although French civil liability law is still based on five articles of the French Civil Code, dating back to 1804, liability regimes have already undergone major changes, particularly as a result of technological developments.
