Abstract
Prevention is better than cure' is the most common saying over the decades, and we could not completely accomplish this in the context of Healthcare. The application of cognitive computing gave a lot of hope to identify and cure the diseases at early stages. Many healthcare-based cognitive applications are currently in place like, Smart Monitoring of various health parameters, assessing the health risk, and prescribing the diet and daily routine. Human touch cannot be replaced by cognitive computing-based assistants, but the research should move in that direction such that collaborative workforce can be deployed in emergency situations. In this chapter, we discuss applications, challenges, and future directions of using cognitive assisted technology in healthcare management.
