Abstract
This paper focuses on the potential and limitations of ChatGPT, a state-of-the-art language model, in the context of Vietnamese geography education. The study aims to provide an analysis of ChatGPT's potentials on teaching and learning geography. Through an in-depth exploration of its capabilities, such as interactive engagement, personalized support, and access to vast geographic information, the paper discusses the potential benefits of integrating ChatGPT in geography classrooms. Simultaneously, it critically examines the model's limitations, including ethical considerations, potential biases, and challenges related to understanding complex geographical concepts. ChatGPT has potentials in Vietnamese geography education but it must improve its abilities in geography such as image processing, chart processing to become a helpful tool for Vietnamese teachers and students in geography education. The findings offer valuable insights into maximizing ChatGPT's advantages while acknowledging its limitations in the pursuit of more effective and inclusive geography education.
