Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies have the potential to significantly improve medical diagnostics, treatment customization, and the effectiveness of healthcare administration in the rapidly changing healthcare landscape. But there are also serious privacy issues that come along with these developments. This chapter explores the challenging task of balancing patient privacy protection with the use of AI to improve healthcare results. The ethical ramifications of AI algorithms accessing private health information, data security and confidentiality measures, and legal frameworks controlling patient information in digital health ecosystems are significantly discussed. Approaches for stakeholders—healthcare providers, legislators, and tech developers—to manage these challenges are illustrated through case studies and contemporary practices. Encouraging responsible AI implementation that respects individual privacy rights, the chapter places a strong emphasis on transparency, permission processes, and rigorous data governance.
