Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed the healthcare landscape, introducing capabilities that span from predictive diagnostics to personalized treatment strategies. This review explores the multifaceted roles of AI within healthcare, emphasizing its application in three primary areas: descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive AI. Descriptive AI focuses on data analysis and the extraction of meaningful information from large datasets, helping in the identification of patterns and trends that enhance diagnostic and operational procedures. Predictive AI forecasts health outcomes and tailors medical interventions by utilizing advanced algorithms to analyze historical and real-time data, thereby improving the accuracy of medical assessments and disease anticipation. Prescriptive AI goes further by not only predicting outcomes but also suggesting actionable interventions tailored to individual patient needs, thus optimizing healthcare delivery and patient management. The integration of machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI technologies is thoroughly examined, highlighting their impact on improving diagnostics, patient care, and the overall efficiency of healthcare services.
