Abstract
This chapter explores the transformative potential of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) in educational assessment, examining its impact on learners, educators, and educational institutions. Through a comprehensive literature review and analysis of existing GAI-based assessment systems, we investigate how GAI is reshaping traditional assessment practices, enabling more personalized, adaptive, and continuous evaluation of student learning. The chapter discusses the major challenges and opportunities associated with GAI, including issues of data privacy, fairness, and the evolving role of educators. We also examine concrete examples of GAI applications in assessment, such as adaptive learning platforms and automated grading systems. The chapter concludes by outlining future research directions and considering the ethical implications of widespread GAI adoption in education. While GAI offers opportunities for enhancing educational assessment, its implementation requires careful consideration of ethical, pedagogical, and technical challenges
