Abstract
Healthcare is evolving rapidly and necessitates changes in medical education. Medical education is in the process of shifting practices to better meet the needs of students from a variety of backgrounds. Traditionally, medical education has been exclusive—reserved largely for a privileged few. Widening access, participation, and success initiatives across medical schools are opening doors to those from minoritized backgrounds to study medicine and become doctors. These initiatives are important, as diversity within the healthcare workforce across many demographics and experiences improves the quality of care that patients receive. The future of medical education requires adaptation to reflect changes in populations, curriculum, healthcare systems, new technologies, and collaborative approaches.
