Abstract
This chapter explores the deployment of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) within educational contexts, focusing on identifying and mitigating the risks associated with inaccuracies, biases, disinformation, and privacy concerns. As generative AI technologies become increasingly integrated into educational settings, they offer the potential for highly personalized and dynamic content creation across multiple media, including text, images, audio, video, and 3D models. However, these benefits come with significant challenges. The chapter outlines the potential for AI-generated content to perpetuate errors, exhibit biases, disseminate disinformation, and compromise user privacy. Through a comprehensive analysis with provided examples, we examine various strategies to address these risks, such as refining AI models, enhancing data curation, implementing robust privacy protections, and promoting critical engagement with AI outputs among educators and students. We also discuss the legal aspects of the use of AI in education. This chapter aims to equip educational stakeholders with the knowledge and tools to critically adopt AI technologies, ensuring they enhance learning while safeguarding against their inherent risks.
