Abstract
Healthcare is entering a new era where artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics are radically changing traditional patient care practices. This article offers a scientific and philosophical perspective on the transformation of the nurse’s role in the age of AI and robotics. The paper discusses functions that remain with nurses despite the automation of certain tasks, and analyzes which responsibilities are already being transferred to robots and intelligent agents. Changes in the social and professional status of nursing staff are addressed. The article presents experiences in implementing AI and robotics in clinical practice across different countries – from Japan and South Korea to the USA, Europe, Russia, and China. Forecasts are formulated: whether the nurse will become an operator of high technologies and an «empathetic bridge» between the patient and machines, whether there will be a complete replacement of the profession or its evolution, and which skills will be defining for future generations of nurses
