Abstract
This study introduces the use of cognitive-enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education and the future-oriented intelligent learning ecosystem. AI technology is transforming higher education by creating personalized and adaptive learning systems that address the weaknesses of the traditional, one-size-fits-all system. AI-powered solutions personalize learning experiences around the specific needs of students, which, in turn, will lead to better educational outcomes and inclusivity. The five main ingredients to make AI integration work are identified, which constitute a holistic framework for practitioner implementation: AI capabilities, student characteristics, teacher roles, learning environment optimization, and technological ecosystems. The research explores AI's capacity to personalize learning, redefine teaching roles and transform learning spaces by reviewing recent literature and case studies. While there has been considerable movement, barriers remain, including cost of implementation, teacher training needs, and concerns around data privacy. They provide actionable recommendations for overcoming these barriers, point to the need for hybrid teaching models, and make a case for strong data governance frameworks. It highlights AI's potential to disrupt higher education, yielding systems that are more equitable, efficient, and secure.
