Abstract
This chapter explores how the manifestation of legitimate and robust blockchain systems has far-reaching potential that provides high-quality clinical trial data while also improving research processes. With rising worries about data security, transparency, and compliance challenges in clinical research, blockchain technology can help solve these problems. This chapter talks about the basic principles of blockchain in clinical research and some applications, along with how Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things are integrating well with it. This combined approach allows for data analytics, allowing real-time monitoring of patient health that will facilitate more flexible and customised designs of trials. It outlines the basics of a successful blockchain implementation strategy, identifying partnership opportunities with technology providers and aligning initiatives closer to regulatory frameworks. The chapter offers scopes for further studies and highlights milestones for implementing blockchain in clinical trials. This chapter highlights the role of blockchain in enabling innovative techniques to be delivered into the field. In conclusion, blockchain technology should be integrated not just for integrity purposes but to boost trust in healthcare ecosystem, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes and efficient research practices.
