Abstract
This paper reviews how AI and machine learning are being used to combat COVID-19. We searched major databases for studies on AI applications in detecting the virus, tracing contacts, predicting outbreaks, and drug development. The review also discusses limitations and challenges of real-world implementation. We highlight the potential of AI for clinical use and ethical considerations. This knowledge can equip clinicians to navigate the adoption of AI tools for current and future pandemics. AI holds promise, but collaboration is needed to overcome deployment challenges. With responsible use, AI could be crucial in future public health crises.
