The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Project Management

Abstract

Project management, like any other field, is being impacted by Artificial Intelligence (AI). This exploratory qualitative study investigates project managers' perspectives on AI's current and emerging role in project management practices. Based on structured interviews with project managers across various industries, the study identifies key themes including AI familiarity, practical applications, ethical and privacy concerns, and the anticipated impact on the future of project work. While project managers are optimistic about AI's potential to improve some of the project management practices, they also emphasize the need for human oversight, domain expertise, and ethical safeguards.
