Abstract
Among the many scenarios opened up by the spread of generative artificial intelligence (AI), one of the most significant in education is the new way of conceiving information literacy. How do we train new generations to search for and evaluate information and then produce digital materials to be shared online in the age of AI? This chapter proposes “Ready-in-5,” a five-step path described as tested in primary school K5 in 2025, built on experiences already implemented in high school. Ready-in-5 is a preliminary design of a possible activity model aimed at supporting students in tackling disinformation. The proposal involves five stages of micro-activities, each lasting approximately 1 hr and structured over three sessions. Students received an image or a video available online as a trigger to spark a debate on the characteristics of information available on the web. Then, they were asked to work in groups and choose one of the subtopics of a general theme, search for information while recording their choices on sources and tools, and then create a Wikipedia-like entry with text and an AI-/Human-generated image. The production step is designed to be adaptable to different students’ characteristics and age groups. The final phases involve sharing a pitch-style presentation, evaluating the products through a group assessment process, and improving the work using the feedback given.
