Abstract
The use of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in healthcare is changing the way medical services are delivered by allowing for real-time monitoring, smart automation, and patient-centered care. This chapter discusses the basic structure of IoT in healthcare and how it is changing over time. It focusses on how IoT can help with managing chronic diseases, automating hospitals, caring for the elderly, and responding to emergencies. It looks closely at the complicated security and trust issues that come up when IoT devices connect to cloud-based systems. There is a lot of talk about new types of threats, the problems with old security models, and how important it is to have dynamic trust frameworks right now. The chapter also discusses the future, including blockchain, edge computing, and AI-driven threat intelligence. This chapter gives healthcare practitioners, IT architects, academics, and politicians useful information about how to develop safe and resilient IoT-enabled healthcare systems by connecting technical ideas with strategic ones.
