Abstract
Heart disease at birth is still one of the most common birth defects, affecting 8–10 out of every 1,000 live births around the world. Even though paediatric cardiology and surgery have gotten better, it is still hard to find heart problems early, make a correct diagnosis, and treat them effectively, especially in places with few resources. CHD has a complicated cause that includes genetic, environmental, and exposomic factors. This chapter gives an in-depth look at how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and edge computing are changing the way CHD management is done. First, we look at what causes syndromic and non-syndromic congenital heart disease. Then, we talk about progress in preconception and prenatal screening, such as foetal echocardiography. Integration of AI and edge computing in CHD management holds transformative potential, with practical implications including earlier detection, enhanced accessibility to specialist-level care, reduced healthcare costs, and improved outcomes through standardized protocols.
