Expanding the Reach of Generative AI to Industry: The Case of Domain Adaptation

Abstract

With the rise of generative AI, a new problem has emerged. Domain experts struggle to adapt generative AI models to their (industry-) specific needs due to a lack of knowledge and support. This hinders the diffusion of generative AI and the exploitation of business opportunities. To support domain experts, this paper proposes a decision framework for domain adaptation of generative AI. The framework sheds light on the decision-making process by guiding users with examples and information. Our study provides researchers and practitioners with a better understanding of domain adaptation techniques to enable them to integrate AI technology into their work.
