AI therapist: A RAG-enhanced mental health platform integrating Google Gemini for personalised support

Abstract

AI Therapist is introduced in this paper. An innovative approach to mental health care with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) used together with Gemini AI chatbots for personalized help. The system uses simple language when talking with patients and helps provide more mental health services by combining advanced language models with retrieval-aware systems. AI Therapist is developed using Flask and offers emotion tracking, instant conversations, and automatic standardized assessments for mental health. Thanks to RAG enhancement, the platform implementation makes the results more precise and relevant. Respond to patients with answers that are based on their specific health needs. These experiments proved that the system could deliver the right, constant, and customized content without endangering user privacy or their personal data protection. The system suggests a main model that links standard therapy methods with technologies. Encourage research activities focused on AI being used in mental health.
