Abstract
This chapter introduces ChatCare, a chatbot-based platform designed to meet the escalating demand for accessible mental health support globally. Leveraging artificial intelligence and natural language processing algorithms, ChatCare delivers personalised emotional assistance and guidance. Notable features include sentiment analysis for tailored responses and intent recognition for meaningful interactions. Metrics such as emotion detection accuracy and intent recognition rates are employed for evaluation. With WHO reporting that nearly 1 billion people worldwide live with a mental disorder, and approximately 75% of those in low and middle-income countries do not receive treatment, the need for innovative solutions like ChatCare is evident. Moreover, a survey by Deloitte revealed that 82% of respondents believe technology can enhance mental health management, while studies indicate that 76% of users value emotional support in chatbot interactions. Against the backdrop of rising mental health challenges intensified by occurrences such as the COVID-19 pandemic, scalable and cost-effective solutions like ChatCare are crucial for promoting mental well-being globally. Through its user-friendly interface and round-the-clock availability, ChatCare aims to provide support to individuals irrespective of their geographical location or socioeconomic status.
