Abstract
Home care has emerged as a cornerstone of contemporary health systems, driven by demographic aging, escalating chronic disease prevalence, and imperatives for cost-effective, patient-centric models of care. This chapter critically interrogates the evolving landscape of home care delivery, foregrounding its most pressing challenges and strategic responses through the lenses of workforce deficits, technological discontinuities, regulatory disarticulation, and entrenched social inequities. Drawing on robust empirical evidence, it delineates pathways to fortify workforce capacity, harness digital health innovations, enhance care integration, and galvanize policy reform. It further explores transformative trends, including artificial intelligence, precision medicine, and pandemic preparedness, that increasingly intersect with domiciliary care. Bridging these systemic gaps holds the potential to reimagine home health care as an equitable, resilient, and high-quality alternative to institutional modalities.
