Abstract
This research investigates the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) powered tools into a World History curriculum designed for BSED students by examining the perception of learning competencies, the effectiveness of tools for learning, and AI-enhanced teaching strategies. Results indicate that AI is generally perceived as applicable to learning history, but its effectiveness depends on how well it is connected to pedagogy. Tools, such as Hello History and Quizizz/Kahoot, received high ratings from students. At the same time, there is a negative correlation between perceived critical competencies (critical thinking, creative expression) and specific AI tools (ChatGPT, Diffit, Twee, Magic School AI), suggesting a need for reflective selection and integration of AI-supported assessment tools. Future suggestions to enhance perceived learning and learning competencies, with AI-supported assessment tools, focus on increasing teacher use of AI in the curriculum (prioritizing key learning objectives), thoughtful selection of technology, more comprehensive professional development, and encouraging media literacy to develop the potential of using AI to enrich the World History curriculum.
