Agile Project Management Optimization with AI technology: Challenges and Impact

Abstract
This study explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be leveraged to optimize Agile Project Management (APM). Starting from identifying challenges like data quality, team resistance, and shortage of skills. Using supervised learning, unsupervised learning, natural language processing (NLP), and reinforcement learning as some of the AI methods this research advances functions like task estimation, resource allocation, risk management, and progress tracking. A survey distributed to 200 participants in IT companies in Jordan that use AI technologies resulted in 135 valid responses. Analysis indicated that AI enhanced sprint planning by 54.2%, improved resource utilization by 29.2%, and reduced planning time by 29.2%. However, data quality issues and team resistance remain a main problem. Good data, appropriate training, and using AI in supporting human decision-making are highlighted in the research. To successfully adopt AI, companies must break through these challenges and customize tools to get the best results. Future research can further examine the real impact of AI on Agile projects, as well as ethical implications and long-term effects.
