Abstract
Artificial Intelligence is up and coming in various fields, including dentistry. Several commercial programs on the market were introduced to support dentists in their diagnosis processes. AI is expected to lead to higher accuracy and optimised treatment plans. Several trials aimed to determine the difference in diagnostic abilities and speed of practitioners or dental students using an AI-based tool. However, no systematic or scoping review has been conducted about the impact of AI-based tools on the decision-making of dental professionals. This review aims to map the influence of AI on dental image diagnostics and further decisions, including advantages and disadvantages for adoption in clinical practice.
