Abstract
AI is here. The notion that we as academics shouldn't assign it or won't let our students use it with their projects/work has left the station. The dialogue and the conversation about AI taking over, including our jobs, reminds me when I was a young child in the 1970s. Big computers were the talk and the fear was that they could take over the world, and eliminate jobs for millions. Fast forward to today, and the conversation continues: but this time it's about AI. As academics we need to understand what AI is, what it means for the future of our students and our professions. Not being educated about it can present huge challenges: and for some in the workforce, their jobs. This article examines the fears of using AI in the classroom particularly for experiential classes, and how those fears are put to rest by a former student, and now PR Professional, who shares that we all must understand it, educate ourselves and know that the future is here.
