Abstract
Data governance in African societies is increasingly complex due to cultural, economic, and technological disparities. A qualitative study involving interviews with policymakers and practitioners focusing on privacy concerns and transparency issues. Policymakers identified a significant challenge in balancing the benefits of AI-driven health interventions against potential violations of patient confidentiality. The findings highlight the need for robust legal frameworks that protect individual rights while facilitating innovation in healthcare data management. Develop guidelines for ethical AI deployment and establish mandatory training programmes for data stewards.
