Artificial intelligence as a tool to promote mental health of young adults

Abstract
The bachelor thesis focuses on artificial intelligence tools in the context of mental health support for young adults. The aim of the thesis is to map the current situation around AI tools supporting mental health, and to map the experiences of young adults with AI tools supporting mental health. The theoretical part introduces the concept of mental health, the factors that influence it and the support possibilities. It also describes the history and current state of AI technologies and offers an overview of AI tools specifically designed to support mental health as well as general-purpose AI tools that can be used in this area. The chapter also reviews research on digital tools that support mental health and lists their benefits and risks. The practical part uses data collected through a questionnaire survey, which are analysed and interpreted using a range of statistical methods. The results show that most young adults in the sample use informal forms of mental health support, while about one-third seek formal support, most often from a psychotherapist or psychologist. AI tools specifically designed for mental health are rarely used, but universal AI tools were used for this purpose by almost half of the respondents.
