Abstract
This chapter presents an example of online continuing professional development (CPD) grounded in the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, focusing on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support inquiry-based STEM education. Drawing on the Science and Engineering Practices of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), specifically question generation, developing and using models, and data collection and analysis within the Claim-Evidence-Reasoning (CER) framework, the chapter introduces two AI tools: SMILE-ASK and ChatGPT. This specially designed online CPD demonstrates how educators and instructional designers can align content knowledge, pedagogical strategies, and technological tools to create meaningful, inquiry-driven learning experiences. Additionally, it highlights the importance of sustained professional learning through an online community of practice (CoP). The chapter argues that fostering both AI literacy and pedagogical fluency, alongside continued engagement in a CoP, is essential for preparing teachers and students to thrive in AI-enhanced learning environments of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
