Abstract
In the context of digital transformation and the globalization of knowledge, artificial intelligence (AI) has become a key driver reshaping the operations of university libraries. This study presents a systematic literature review of recent scholarly publications (2024–2026) to examine major research trends, application domains, and challenges associated with AI in university library settings. Data were collected from reputable international journals and conference proceedings, focusing on themes such as intelligent information services, digital resource management, AI competencies of library staff, and user behavior. The findings indicate that AI is widely applied in automating library processes, personalizing user services, analyzing large-scale data, and supporting academic research activities, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and user experience. However, the implementation of AI also faces significant challenges, including limited digital and AI literacy among librarians, ethical concerns related to data privacy and transparency, and disparities in technological infrastructure across regions. The study highlights the need for comprehensive and sustainable AI integration strategies that align technological innovation with human capacity development and ethical governance. Overall, AI is not only a technological tool but also a transformative force redefining the role of university libraries in the digital era.
