Abstract

Objective. To study the effect of application of the medical record copy flow reforger in medical record management. Method. Selecting 101,305 (46,048 copies in 2011 and 55,257 copies in 2012) medical records copied one year before and after the implementation of the medical record copy flow reforger, comparing and analyzing the statistical data of waiting time of applicants, satisfaction of applicants, rate of awareness of copy knowledge in applicants, time spent by staff in searching for and copying medical records, and copying workload before and after the implementation of the medical record copy flow reforger, by using SPSS17.0 software. Results. The satisfaction of the medical record copy applicant is significantly improved (X2 is equal to 10.47, P is less than 0.01) after the implementation of the medical record copy flow reforger than that before the implementation, the rate of awareness of copy knowledge awareness in applicants is significantly improved (X2 is equal to 23.2, P is less than 0.01); the average waiting time of applicants at peak time, the searching time of each medical record and copying time of each medical record are all shortened significantly than those before the implementation of the reforger (t is equal to 1050.81, P is less than 0.01; t is equal to 464.23, P is less than 0.01; and t is equal to 375.55 and P is less than 0.01, respectively); the number of daily copy receptions, the number of medical records copied daily and the number of medical record pages copied daily are all increased significantly than those before the implementation of the reforger (t is equal to 670.19, P is less than 0.01; t is equal to 731.45, P is less than 0.01; and t is equal to 2148.68 and P is less than 0.01, respectively). Conclusion. The implementation of the medical record copy flow reforger can improve work efficiency and enhance the satisfaction of patients and their family members over the hospital service.
