Abstract
This paper gives an overview of the interoperability standards for Electronic Healthcare Records (EHRs) which are offered by the world leading standard bodies: European Committee for Standardisation (CEN), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Health Level Seven (HL7) and Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM). We have taken information available in the original standards’ text as the bases of our research. We outline what each of these standards offer and we compare the way they address the interoperability of EHRs.
