Abstract
This article found that more than 15 percent of U.S. hospitals have adopted at least a basic electronic health record (EHR), representing nearly 75 percent growth since 2008. Approximately two-thirds plan to apply for meaningful use before 2013. However, only 4.4 percent had implemented each of the core meaningful use functionalities measured. Overall, hospitals will have to accelerate adoption of EHRs above the current pace to participate in meaningful use.
