Abstract
With the continuing growth of social network usage, the development of more advanced social network analysis tools is gaining importance. Social networks are no longer just for meeting friends and sharing photos, they have evolved to more professional usage particularly in health care domains. Such networks are able to connect doctors to other doctors, and patients to care providers. This is critical at a global scale in terms of reaching out to underserviced areas, as well as at an organizational scale where a system of care providers are trying to optimize their services to reduce costs while maintaining reasonably high levels of quality of service. In this talk I will discuss some of my research team's most recent work in modeling a palliative care network and some of the experiences, both successes and challenges, in achieving such task.
