Abstract
AI presents a unique opportunity to revolutionize the practice of cardiology and cardiac surgery. AI's biggest promise is to liberate medical experts from tedious and laborious tasks, enabling them to focus on work that requires high-level cognition, intelligence, and experience. This chapter will discuss the role of AI in cardiology, specifically with respect to computational imaging, biomarker extraction, early accurate diagnosis, risk prediction, clinical decision support, and surgery. Readers need to be vigilant about the potential risks and limitations of AI in these areas. After reading this chapter, clinicians will be more familiar with cardiac AI and understand how to apply it for the benefit of their patients.
