Abstract
We applaud the impactful article in The Annals of Thoracic Surgery Short Reports, “Quality Analysis of Online Resources for Patients Undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting” by Roa-Vidal and colleagues,1 who highlight the issue that the accessibility of online educational resources for coronary artery bypass grafting is limited by language and literacy barriers. The American Medical Association and the National Institutes of Health have set guidelines recommending patient education materials to be crafted at a sixth-grade reading level or lower, a standard often not met by current resources.
