AI's Implications in Healthcare and Medical Systems

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a pivotal part in the medical industry. Machine learning (ML), deep learning, and natural language processing (NLP) are three major categories of AI. AI has the capacity to improve patients’ health and improve the healthcare given to them. AI can not only aid in the development of pharmaceuticals but also improve the efficiency of the current ones. We have reviewed various applications of AI in healthcare in detail. The recent advancements of AI in the medical industry have been discussed which include some of the advancements like medical image processing, smart inhalers, software like Fitbits, etc. We then discuss in detail the three major categories of AI: ML, DL, and NLP. AI has a lot of positive impact on healthcare. The ethics of AI in healthcare is also mentioned in detail. The growing expense of healthcare will remain controversial among healthcare stakeholders. However, there’s still more improvement in AI which in turn will improve the patients’ conditions better. The implementation of AI in the clinical process and patients’ clinical trial journey are discussed in detail. The potential for medical cost reduction and service quality improvement is enormous, and it is quite likely that AI will advance quickly in the medical industry with help from the government.
