Abstract
This chapter provides a comprehensive exploration of the evolution and impact of robotic surgery in the medical domain. From historical origins to contemporary smart hospitals, the narrative covers the technological advancements and challenges associated with robotic surgery, offering insights from two experienced surgeons. Aligning with the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), their lived experiences highlight factors such as performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, and moderating factors shaping their acceptance of robotic technology. The research also delves into broader implications on patient satisfaction, healthcare outcomes, and the ethical considerations of human-machine collaboration. Emphasizing the transformative potential of robotic surgery, the chapter underscores the need to address barriers for widespread adoption to fully harness its benefits in enhancing patient care.
