Gozum's recent article delves into the potential of fairness as equity in addressing the digital divide within artificial intelligence (AI) and healthcare.The author emphasizes the importance of both liberal and distributive justice, highlighting that government action is crucial in effectively integrating AI into healthcare through appropriate legislation.The author further adds that well-crafted policies can help bridge the digital divide and strengthen healthcare as a fundamental right supported by good governance. 1 This paper is written to delve deeper into the issue of justice in AI and to explore some recommendations for AI fairness.Fairness in AI encompasses ensuring an equitable allocation of resources, opportunities and results across various groups of patients. 2The healthcare system must ensure that all individuals receive high-quality care without any form of discrimination.The attainment of equity in AI requires the development of impartial algorithms that enable precise diagnosis and treatment for all patients, regardless of their socioeconomic status or cultural heritage.A significant obstacle in promoting equality in AI-driven healthcare recommendations is the inherent bias that may exist within the algorithms themselves.If the datasets utilized for training these algorithms lack representation of diverse patient demographics, the resulting recommendations may fail to be accurate or effective for all individuals.This situation can result in unequal healthcare outcomes, where certain populations may receive inadequate care or be denied access to critical, life-saving recommendations.Addressing this issue requires a thorough understanding of and efforts to mitigate potential biases in AI systems. 3t is imperative to develop a holistic approach aimed at addressing bias across different levels and ethical, legal and practical concerns to advance AI equality within the healthcare sector and guarantee equitable and precise care for all patients.It is imperative to implement this approach to promote collaboration among important parties involved in providing unbiased AI-powered healthcare solutions.It is crucial to include diverse data in AI development and training to improve its ability to identify, diagnose and treat patient conditions.This can reduce disparities and promote fair healthcare outcomes.Educating healthcare professionals and patients about AI biases is important for fostering understanding and open discussions.Establishing feedback channels between providers and patients can help achieve these goals.Workshops, digital platforms and partnerships can be used for this.Involving policymakers and regulatory bodies in creating guidelines and regulations is vital for fairness, transparency and advancing AI-driven healthcare. 4,5y taking this approach, we can ensure that AI is beneficial for every patient, regardless of their background, and actively contributes to the overall well-being of society.This commitment not only promotes equality in healthcare, but also fosters a sense of inclusivity, ensuring that technological advancements are accessible to everyone.
