Abstract

Healthcare artificial intelligence (AI) offers both great potential and substantial challenges, and it outlines the complex environment of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare by drawing on the disciplines of science and technology studies (STS), gender studies, and ethics of science and technology. The rapid development of AI systems in the medical field elevates concerns about possible unwanted and unexpected repercussions, particularly the perpetuation of health inequalities among marginalized groups is raised by the quick development and application of AI systems in the medical industry. We must do a thorough analysis of the consequences of AI in healthcare if we are to ensure its socially robust development and deployment. Our knowledge of the interaction between humans and AI and how to best configure it to deliver safe, effective, and unrestricted healthcare is noticeably lacking. Addressing these challenges, it is imperative to establish multifarious and interdisciplinary groups that possess the necessary skills to create and implement medical artificial intelligence in a way that is equitable, transparent, and accountable. With a focus on intersectional beneficence and equity, this study emphasizes how crucial it is to incorporate social science ideas into the creation of AI for biomedical research and healthcare. This can be accomplished, in part, by putting more emphasis on evaluating AI in the context of healthcare and encouraging a more thorough and all-encompassing approach to integrating AI in this crucial field.
