Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is the term used to describe the ability of computers and machines to perform human-like tasks. Machine learning is a subfield of artificial intelligence that makes systems able to learn autonomously and improve from experience without human intervention. Specific applications of AI include decision-making, natural language processing, speech recognition and computer vision. In particular, Generative AI applications such as the Large Language Models (e.g. BERT, GPT, BLOOM, BARD) are gaining great success. Besides revolutionizing our lives, AI is getting more prominent in the medical domain. For instance, AI is successfully used for the diagnosis and pathological classification through medical imaging. However, AI has still several challenges to address for its successful adoption in healthcare.
