Development of the MIORTXORTHO Chatbot to Assist in the Selection of Medical Instruments for Orthopedic Trauma Surgery Procedures

Abstract
Orthopedic surgery is a vital medical procedure for treating and rehabilitating the musculoskeletal system, addressing conditions ranging from osteoarthritis to fractures and dislocations caused by accidents. Given the diversity of cases, orthopedic surgeries require specialized medical instruments and equipment. The MIORTXORTHO chatbot was developed to assist in selecting the appropriate medical instruments for treating orthopedic injuries resulting from accidents. It also includes pre-and post-knowledge assessments and is accessed via the LINE application by 34 third-year students maj oring in Medical Instrumentation and Surgical Technology at Navamindradhiraj University. The study's findings reveal a significant improvement in knowledge scores after using the chatbot, with a 95% confidence level (t = -4.11, p-value < 0.01). Therefore, the MIORTXORTHO chatbot effectively aids users in independently selecting medical instruments for orthopedic surgeries through the LINE application. Additionally, it enhances knowledge and serves as an educational tool for medical personnel, ultimately improving the efficiency of orthopedic surgical procedures.
