Investigating Advantages and Disadvantages of Using Artificial Intelligence at Tertiary Level

Abstract
This study explores the multifaceted implications of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into tertiary education. The primary aim is to investigate both the advantages and disadvantages of AI adoption in this academic context, focusing on its impact on teaching, learning, and institutional productivity. Using a quantitative methodology, data was gathered from a sample of 80 students at a single tertiary institution through a structured questionnaire. Findings reveal that while AI offers significant benefits, such as enhanced efficiency, personalized learning experiences, and improved instructional quality, it also presents challenges, including ethical concerns and a reduction in human interaction. The study concludes with recommendations to support balanced AI integration, highlighting the importance of mitigating potential drawbacks to maximize AI's value in educational environments.
