This chapter explores the integration of generative artificial intelligence (genAI) tools in higher education, focusing on designing competence frameworks for equitable and inclusive implementation. It discusses the challenges associated with assessing competences and highlights the ResearchComp framework developed by the European Commission as a valuable tool for researchers. The chapter proposes a model for competence frameworks, emphasizing critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, ethics and continuous learning as key competencies for genAI integration. It underscores the importance of transparency, ethical decision making and collaboration among stakeholders involved in AI education.
