Abstract
This chapter explores the integration of generative artificial intelligence (genAI) tools in higher education, focusing on designing competence frameworks for equitable and inclusive implementation. It discusses the challenges associated with assessing competences and highlights the ResearchComp framework developed by the European Commission as a valuable tool for researchers. The chapter proposes a model for competence frameworks, emphasizing critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, ethics and continuous learning as key competencies for genAI integration. It underscores the importance of transparency, ethical decision making and collaboration among stakeholders involved in AI education. Ensuring inclusivity and equity is crucial, considering cultural influences and incorporating diverse perspectives in curriculum development. The chapter concludes by addressing challenges and opportunities in integrating genAI tools in educational settings, emphasizing the need for comprehensive training, motivation and ongoing support for educators and students. Overall, the chapter promotes the responsible use of genAI to enhance learning experiences and foster inclusive education.
